76ers, Celtics to play in NBA London Game on January 11

The game, to be played 11 January, will be the Celtics' second trip to London, having played Minnesota there in a 2007 pre-season contest, and the first for the 76ers, whose prior British experience was a 2013 pre-season game at Manchester against Oklahoma City.

"Participating in NBA London Game 2018 is a great opportunity for our players to compete in front of an global audience at the historic O2 Arena", said coach Brett Brown in a release sent out by the Sixers.

The Denver Nuggets posted a 140-112 victory over the Indiana Pacers in last season's game in London.

"I look forward to coming back to London with the Sixers after visiting for the first time this summer", Embiid said in a statement.

"It's very exciting for our team and the whole Celtics organisation to compete in front of our loyal fans in London", said the point guard.

No. 2 pick Lonzo Ball, on the other hand, was named "Most Likely To Have a Parent Storm the Court", so the Celtics certainly came out on top this time. "It's especially exciting to have the Sixers face off against the Boston Celtics on Thursday, to be followed by Crystal Palace's Saturday match-up against Burney nearby in South London". That is an indication of how the National Basketball Association perceives the Sixers, since they only have elite or high-level or up-and-coming teams play in the nationally televised holiday contests.

But fans who have already purchased season tickets and are wondering what this means for them, don't fret; the Sixers have a plan.

The Sixers will be designated as the home team in the game, which will be broadcast locally on Comcast SportsNet and 97.5 The Fanatic.
