The How I Met Your Mother spin off is FINALLY happening

CBS ended up passing on the spin off, and nothing else happening with the idea - until a year ago.

"They will be starting from scratch", she said. First, in 2014, just after the stop of the series, where a project How I Met Your Dad, Meg Ryan to add his voice off had been launched to finally stay just at the embryonic stage. They tried to figure out how they could redo it in order to improve it, but it never came together. That is if this latest attempt at a How I Met Your Mother finds success like the original. However, since their NBC family drama series became a huge hit and the two became co-showrunners with creator Dan Fogelman, they had no time to fully dedicate themselves to developing the spin-off anymore.

Depending how you felt about the series finale of How I Met Your Mother, you may have been super pumped or totally turned off by the prospect of a How I Met Your Dad spinoff.

However, Fox chairman Dana Walden told Deadline that "the studio will try [developing a spin-off] with different writers".

For all that, determined to not let go of a formula that has been proven for no less than 9 seasons, FOX had twice attempted d'give birth to spin-offs.

Though How I Met Your Mother called CBS home, the spin-off wasn't a CBS-owned property, which is part of the reason they didn't exhaust themselves trying to fix the first pilot.

CBS, however, passed on the pilot shelved "How I Met Your Dad". Carter Bays, Craig Thomas, Pamela Fryman, Stephen Lloyd, Chris Harris, Chuck Tatham, Jamie Rhonheimer and Kourtney Kang were executive producers for Twentieth Century Fox Television.

Many were angered by the decisions that were made, feeling that they were a cop out.

For now, this is just a hopeful series. "If it's the right idea the right execution, we'll take that", she said.
