Nets will host Thunder, Heat in Mexico City

The Nets will take on the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday, Dec. 7 and then play the Miami Heat on Saturday, Dec. 9.

These games are of particular importance to the league, which has been keen on adding not only more games in Mexico City to the National Basketball Association schedule, but are openly considering possible expansion into the great metropolis as well.

Though the Barclays Center has been the team's home since the 2012-13 campaign, the new-look Nets, who are in rebuild mode under the guidance of general manager Sean Marks and head coach Kenny Atkinson, are looking forward to expanding their brand on a global scale.

For those anxious about watching the games, last season, each game in Mexico City was broadcast on either the participating teams' Fox Sports affiliate, ESPN or NBA TV. "We are playing against two really good teams". It may also signal an uptick in the number of games we can expect to see played there in the future. The event itself is a celebration of the NBA's games in Mexico City.

The NBA will once again be returning to Mexico City, Mexico for regular-season games. While we have no immediate plans to expand the National Basketball Association, one of the things that we look at is whether expanding would be additive to the league as a whole.

Brooklyn will take on the star-studded Oklahoma City Thunder on December 7 in Mexico City.

The Suns played the Spurs and Mavericks in Mexico City last season, and more than 20,000 fans showed up for each game at Mexico City Arena. "These games afford us the opportunity to further expand our worldwide footprint and reach thousands of new fans in a market where the sport is experiencing extraordinary growth". "And, as I said, there is no market more important to us than Mexico".

The games will be will be available to fans around the world on television and digital media.
