The Broncos were practicing in full pads Saturday.

That decision will certainly be called into question after Derek Wolfe was injured during the first team drill and left practice on a cart.

Denver Broncos defensive end Derek Wolfe went down with a right leg injury during the team's practice on Saturday morning, enough to take the air out of the session.

Wolfe was clearly distraught as he was getting carted off the field. He bulked up over the summer, saying he added 20 pounds of muscle because "I was like 285 previous year and it was a little too light holding the point". Winn's injury created a path for Shebly Harris to make the team.

On Thursday, the Broncos lost defensive lineman Billy Winn for the season after he tore his ACL during Thursday's preseason opener against the Chicago Bears. He played in 2014 and 2015 with the Oakland Raiders. Wolfe suggested he hadn't spoken up enough last season when the Broncos missed the playoffs a year after winning the Super Bowl. Vance Walker remains available.

Also sidelined are nose tackle Kyle Peko (foot) and outside linebackers Shane Ray (wrist) and Shaq Barrett (hip).

Safety T.J. Ward has not been active due to a hamstring injury. It is possible he could move back inside and the Broncos could add an outside linebacker. Other rotational and depth players at defensive end include Zach Kerr, Adam Gostis, Harris and Shakir Soto.

Broncos back to work for their final training camp practice open to fans.

Nose tackle Kyle Peko is now tending to a broken foot.
