Facts About North Korean Dictator Kim Jong Un

North Korea dominated the conversation between the two leaders, according to a readout of the call.

Rep. Keith Ellison (D., Minn.) quickly walked back remarks he made Friday that North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un was acting "more responsible" than President Donald Trump, saying it was "tailor-made for somebody to misuse".

Trump raised alarm around the world - and particularly in Asia - by warning that North Korea would face "fire and fury like the world has never seen" if it were to keep threatening the US. "I think we're not closer to war than a week ago", McMaster said on ABC's "This Week".

"At the end of the day if the North Koreans evolve into a fully replete nuclear weapons state with ICBMs (intercontinental ballistic missiles) with miniaturised warheads on top then, well, the Chinese view is, the U.S. will then just have to accept that reality", Mr Rudd said.

The US president also spoke with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping by phone to discuss rising tensions over North Korea, it said.

The White House said in statement early on Saturday that USA military forces "stand ready" to safeguard Guam following North Korea's threat.

That prompted Trump to reassure citizens of the USA territory that the American military was prepared to ensure their safety.

"President Trump and President Xi agreed North Korea must stop its provocative and escalatory behavior".

In recent days، Trump and the North Korean regime have engaged in heated rhetoric about the Asian nation's nuclear weapons program. But China says it alone can not compel Pyongyang to change course.
