Ousmane Dembele transfer: Dortmund extend player's suspension amid Barcelona interest

Dembele is seen as a potential successor to Neymar at Barcelona, after the Brazilian's record 222 million euro ($262.32 million) move to Paris St Germain earlier this month.

And, as it stands, both Coutinho and Dembele are really forcing their respective clubs to leave Barcelona.

Today, it appears that Borussia Dortmund have extended the ban.

Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has endorsed Borussia Dortmund's tough stance on Barcelona target Ousmane Dembele.

"You should not treat players like gods, if they do not behave like gods".

"It was jointly decided by Hans-Joachim Watzke, Michael Zorc and Peter Bosz after the first-round victory over 1". FC Rielasingen-Arlen on Saturday evening.

"Our focus now is on a concentrated preparation of the team for the Bundesliga opening match against Wolfsburg in the coming weekend", Zorc told Dortmund's website.

Dembele joined Dortmund, who will compete in the Champions League group stage, from French side Rennes on a five-year deal in 2016.

With over two weeks left of the summer transfer window, Borussia Dortmund are now in a rather sticky situation.

Philippe Coutinho, Eden Hazard, Ousmane Dembele, Angel Di Maria, Paulo Dybala, Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann, all make up the list of a host of world class names linked with a move to the Catalan giants.

Speculation that a move to Barcelona was imminent soon mounted before BVB issued a statement saying a bid had been lodged by the Catalan giants but it did not meet their valuation for a player they signed from Rennes for €15m past year. Marc Bartra bagged the opener.
