It will be a multi-cam sitcom set 100 years in the future and follow the exploits of the eponymous space-age family.

As reported by Variety, ABC now has a put pilot order for a live-action Jetsons TV show.

The characters will be based on the Hanna-Barbera classic that originally ran from 1962-1963. While the cartoon envisioned a Googie-style future with flying cars and robotic household help when it premiered in 1962, the live-action sitcom promises to look at the gang "through a modern filter". At one time, Robert Rodriguez (From Dusk Til Dawn) was set to direct the live-action comedy.

The show followed a futuristic family George, Jane, Judy, and Elroy Jetson, their robot Alice and their dog Astro. Compari's Jackie Levine will also serve as a co-executive producer, with Warner Brothers Television producing in association with Compari and Nickelby Inc.

As WBTV plans this television outing, Warner Bros.

Fans of the original series may be hoping that the classic theme song of the original series that begins with the line "meet George Jetson", will remain mostly intact. Written by Family Guy and Will & Grace writer, Gary Janetti, this reboot will take place in the year 2118, but few other details have been made public. It was a box office hit, even though the movie was panned by critics.
