Mercedes-Benz presented the luxury electric auto

The luxury electric auto is on display at Monterey vehicle Week at Pebble Beach in California. If last year's concept was a land yacht, the Cabriolet is a land speedboat. The hood, which traditionally houses the engine in conventional luxury cars, now serves as a luggage compartment specifically designed for this Maybach 6.

At a private estate on Pebble Beach Golf Course in Carmel, Calif., Mercedes-Benz unveiled its latest concept vehicle: the Mercedes-Maybach Vision 6 Cabriolet.

The Cabriolet Concept keeps all the stately lines of the previous concept but is finished in a "nautical blue metallic" body paint. This custom-made retractable fabric roof incorporates interwoven threads of gold.

The interior is covered in Crystal White leather and paired with a wooden floor laced with aluminum inlays - another yachting reference. Mercedes refers to the opulent interior, created to complement the car's exterior as much as possible, as a "360-degree open-air luxury lounge".

Another highlight comes courtesy of the floating, transparent center tunnel, which visualizes the drive system's electrical energy flow for the passengers by means of blue fiber optics. The navigation system is linked to touchscreen displays, while an intelligent concierge system uses voice commands to provide information based on location and time of day. Thanks to its four compact permanent magnet synchronous electric motors, it features all-wheel drive, with the flat battery sitting in the underbody. Instead of the usual petrol engines, this time it is equipped with four highly efficient electric motors which when combined produces an fantastic 740 horsepower which is impressive for an Electric Car.

Talking about the performance, the Mercedes Benz says that the Maybach 6 Cabriolet will go from right 0 mph to 60 mph in less than four seconds with around 155 miles per an hour. However, it's the design which makes it stand out with the full sized open top, the true Mercedes Maybach type unlike the S variants, that the company has designed in years. A five-minute charge could allow the luxury auto to run for up to 60 miles, which suggests that it would take 30 minutes to completely charge the vehicle.
