Swaraj corners Pak, says terrorists continue to get support from some countries

At a meeting of select leaders convened by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres here on Tuesday on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly Session, Sushma Swaraj said India understood its responsibility towards Mother Earth.

M - NY hosted on September 20 the extraordinary meeting of the foreign ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states that are attending the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly.

During at BRICS ministerial meeting, Sushma said horror of terrorism continues to haunt global peace and security.

She did not name any country but the reference was clearly to Pakistan.

"Terrorists continue to find support and shelter in countries which use terrorism as an instrument of state policy", the minister said.

The need of the hour, the Indian EAM stressed, is to systematically cutoff terror funding, supply of weapons and political support extended to the extremists.

India's stand against terrorism was also reiterated by the External Affairs Minister during her meet earlier in the day with the counterparts of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).

"The External Affairs Minister called on the Prime Minister of Mauritius and she had meetings with the Foreign Minister of Mexico, Norway and Belgium".

"Ready to work closely with UNSG and relevant United Nations agencies, especially in the context of the International Solar Alliance", she said.

She also touched on climate change and referred to Indian Prime Minister Narendra's Modi's suggestion of an alliance between the India-initiated International Solar Alliance and the New Development Bank, a multilateral development bank established by the BRICS nations. "There can be no justification for any acts of terrorism", she was reported as saying.
