Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie suspended by Giants

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie suspended by Giants

"He came in today, made a decision to leave. we will suspend him".

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Landon Collins and Sterling Shepard were absent from practice Wednesday as the Giants begin preparing for Sunday night's game against the Broncos in Denver. "For that, we'll suspend him". With two other follow-up questions of how long the suspension will be and if Rodgers-Cromartie will play on Sunday, McAdoo said, "That's all I have for you right now".

In a text message, Rodgers-Cromartie told ESPN he will be returning to the team Thursday.

"I wasn't happy", Apple said after the game about being benched (via USA Today).

The Giants, who were considered Super Bowl contenders entering the season, are off to an 0-5 start and have been hit by a rash of injuries.

According to a report from Art Stapleton of The Record, the DRC-McAdoo argument was over Rodgers-Cromartie not agreeing with his role. On WFAN, NFL Network's Mike Francesa said Rodgers-Cromartie took off his pads at halftime and declared he was done playing, according to the New York Post.

Rodgers-Cromartie has one more season left on the five-year contract he signed before the 2014 season. If the Giants cut him, he would carry $2 million in dead cap space for 2018, a savings of $6.5 million.

New York Giants cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie sacks Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston (3) during the second half of an NFL football game Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017, in Tampa, Fla.

There was also an altercation during the Giants' loss to the Chargers.
