Arsenal haven't made Mesut Ozil a contract offer

Those negotiations have yet to resume, and a source says that Turkish reports claiming Arsenal had held "positive" talks with Ozil's agent were incorrect.

When asked whether he would contemplate a January sale, Wenger said: "Once you're in our kind of situation, you envisage every solution, yes".

Ozil has repeatedly insisted he is happy in London, where he recently bought a new house, but has also called on Wenger to buy reinforcements in the past. "It is possible", said the manager, who confirmed no deadline has been set for a decision to be made.

'It's always hard to come up against players like Alexis, with this quality and level but we've been concentrating over the whole game and we've done a great job, ' Alves added. "Overall I hope that the situation can be turned around".

In the short term, Sanchez has to deal with the disappointment of Chile's failure to qualify for the World Cup, following their 3-0 midweek loss in Brazil.

Wenger has acknowledged that the 28-year-old was involved in a "physical" game and admitted that the attacker is not guaranteed to start at Vicarage Road.

"Mentally, I will have to assess the situation when he comes back tomorrow (Friday)".

"I will have to speak to him", Wenger said.

"Ozil wants to play another two to three years in the Premier League".

It's expected Sanchez will leave Arsenal at the end of the season, which will lead to a scramble to sign the forward.

"I am more concerned that yesterday afternoon I watched the whole game, Brazil against Chile, to see how hard the game was and I must say he got some special treatment in this game".
