Donald Trump 'could visit demilitarised zone' between North and South Korea

"Presidents and their administrations have been talking to North Korea for 25 years, agreements made and massive amounts of money paid hasn't worked, agreements violated before the ink was dry, makings fools of U.S. negotiators", he said in a pair of tweets.

The last flight by U.S. bombers was 17 days earlier when four US F-35B stealth fighter jets and two B-1Bs flew over the peninsula.

North Korean hackers have allegedly stolen large cache of military documents from South Korea including a plan to assassinate their North's leader Kim Jong-un.

When it first opened in 2004, the Kaesong complex, located about 54 kilometers northwest of Seoul, was meant to promote inter-Korean development and give North Korean workers a taste of life in the south, including snack foods like the cakes known as Choco Pies and toiletries that were resold as luxury items in the North.

South Korea's military has been in a high state of monitoring and readiness alongside the USA military, South Korean media reported. "It was preposterous." South Korea's Unification Ministry has said safety guarantees for South Koreans are among the changes needed before it will consider restarting the tours.

The four aircraft then flew across the peninsula and staged another round of a firing exercise over the Yellow Sea before the two B-IBs returned home, the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said.

The briefing by his defence secretary James Mattis and top military officer General Joseph Dunford "focussed on a range of options to respond to any form of North Korean aggression or, if necessary, to prevent North Korea from threatening the United States and its allies with nuclear weapons", according to a brief statement from the White House.

A U.S. Air Force B-1B Lancer assigned to the 37th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron, prepare for take-off to fly a bilateral mission with Japanese and South Korea Air Force jets in the vicinity of the Sea of Japan, from Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, October 10, 2017.

On Monday he tweeted: "Our country has been unsuccessfully dealing with North Korea for 25 years, giving billions of dollars and getting nothing".

Pyongyang has reportedly denied being involved in the cyberattack, dismissing Seoul's claims as "fabricated".

On Saturday, Trump made a similar comment on Twitter about how negotiations have failed for 25 years and said "only one thing will work" with North Korea. North Korea needs time and proof to believe that abandoning its nuclear programme will contribute to its own political and economic advantage.

"War would be a nightmare for the Korean Peninsula and surrounding regions".
