Former Bergen Catholic star Jarrett Guarantano to start at QB for Tennessee

Coach Butch Jones made it official on Wednesday-- redshirt freshman Jarrett Guarantano will start at quarterback in place of Quinten Dormady when the Vols take on SC this weekend. All eyes will be on Tuesday afternoon's practice as to whether Dormady is present.

The redshirt freshman will be replacing junior Quinten Dormady, who had started every game this season after winning a preseason competition over Guarantano. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound New Jersey native has played in three games this season in relief of Dormady, completing 12 of 24 passes for 50 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions.

Dormady, meanwhile, has thrown for 925 yards, six touchdowns and six interceptions. However, Tennessee has yet to win an SEC game. "The scheme is the scheme, the scheme is in place, so it's more just I think Jarrett has earned that right and that opportunity". We're not going to hide from that, we know what happened.

Now, Dormady finds himself in a position similar to the position Guarantano was in during the Georgia Tech game. It was all over the national TV and everywhere like that. Cameras caught an emotional and obviously frustrated player exhibiting what could fairly be described as negative body language, with Scott suggesting the moment humbled Guarantano.

The quarterback's behavior was singled out by well-known analyst Kirk Herbstreit, only heightening the attention it got.

Tennessee's quarterback derby is expected to take another turn this week. We go through life, we have setbacks and it's how you deal with it.
