Trump hints that Puerto Rican relief efforts may end

President Donald Trump went on a foreboding tweetstorm on Thursday morning warning of a financial crisis in Puerto Rico's future as the island recovers from the ravages of three straight hurricanes. He says there is a "total lack of accountability" and "electric and all infrastructure was disaster before hurricanes".

He continued in a third tweet: "We can not keep FEMA, the Military & the First Responders, who have been wonderful (under the most hard circumstances) in P.R. forever!"

Several lawmakers from hurricane-hit states said a third interim aid request is expected shortly - with a final, huge hurricane recovery and rebuilding package likely to be acted upon by the end of the year.

Dozens of people rallied in NY last week to demand the Donald Trump administration do more to help Puerto Rico.

Trump has come under fire for a patronising and callous attitude to the island, and got into a high-profile spat with the capital's mayor, Carmen Yulín Cruz. UNICEF USA also delivered emergency supply kits to provide approximately 60,000 people with basic hygiene supplies, including water purification tablets, water buckets, soap, toothpaste, detergent, sanitary pads and more. That water can be unsafe to people's health.

And Puerto Rico was destroyed, decimated, wiped out. Schumer tweeted at Trump.

Robin Hayes, president and CEO, JetBlue, said, "As JetBlue continues to support Puerto Rico, launching relief and recovery programs for the island within 100 days in 35 ways, we'd like to thank Governor Cuomo for his ongoing leadership in the recovery efforts". Should we use all available resources to actually save Puerto Ricans where possible, or move on to other crises, real, imagined or engineered? "These are great people. They. want everything to be done for them when it should be a community effort". "And we will be there every day until that happens".
