Aston Martin DB11 Volante goes on sale | New Release

The convertible sports auto benefits from three-stage powertrain and chassis modes, working in ideal harmony with the eight-speed automatic transmission, electric power steering, and limited-slip differential with dynamic torque vectoring.

In addition to the new V-8, which is a product of Mercedes AMG's engine shop and part of a partnership with the German marque, and the new aluminum structure (a smart switch made in the DB11 Coupe), the Volante is equipped with the 8-speed ZF paddle-shift automatic transmission.

The overall design and styling of the convertible mimics the coupe, except for the fabric roof of course.

With prices starting at £159,900, the DB11 Volante is a hefty £15,000 more expensive than the DB11 V8 coupe. Torque is 513lb ft and the vehicle produces 255g/km CO2. Its fabric roof, which is available in three colors including bordeaux red, black silver, and grey silver, takes just 14 seconds to lower and 16 seconds to close. Features include heated steering wheel to encourage owners to keep the top down even when the temperature drops.

The all-new 8-layer hood is created to insulate the occupants from the extremes of weather and wind noise, taking just 14 seconds to lower and 16 to close. You can also have wood veneer or carbon-fibre finishes for the back of the front seats. Aston Martin also says that the new soft top design provides 20 percent more trunk space than the outgoing DB9. Not that the British automaker has been keeping it a secret - Aston Martin showed off a prototype of the DB11 Volante over a year ago, with a launch date penned for spring 2018. "The challenge of creating a convertible vehicle is retaining structural and dynamic integrity", Aston Martin Chief Technical Officer Max Szwaj explains.

Max Szwaj, Aston's chief technical officer, added: "With the DB11 Volante we have maximised the advantages of the DB11's all-new bonded structure to underpin our new Volante with a structure that's 26kg lighter and five per cent stiffer than its predecessor [the DB9 Volante]".

Deliveries of the Aston Martin DB11 Volante in the USA are scheduled to begin during the second quarter of 2018 and will be priced from $220,385 including destination.
