I never called Barca the Messi team - Pochettino slams Guardiola's Kane comments

However, they were no match for Kane as the Spurs super-star scored six goals in his four Premier League appearances last month to take his tally to 11 in just 9 games in all competitions.

Spurs superstar Kane also scored back-to-back winners for England in their recent 1-0 2018 World Cup qualifying wins against Slovenia and Lithuania.

Pochettino also branded Guardiola's comments, made before the worldwide break, as "very disrespectful" and "sad" but insisted his Spurs players only laughed when they heard the Manchester City manager's remark.

Incredibly, only one player in Premier League history has won more Player of the Month awards than Kane and Kane is still only 24 years old.

He added: "I know Pep very well and when he is excited after an awesome victory against Chelsea sometimes he struggles to keep his position and be a gentleman".

Asked if Guardiola had contacted him, Pochettino said: "No, of course not".

"I always said it was Barcelona or Pep Guardiola".

"It doesn't affect me but in the reality it was very disrespectful for many people", the Argentine continued. When many people took the words, it was very sad and for many players that are here it is odd but, in my case, I didn't take it in a bad way.

"It was disrespectful for many", he added. Maybe after the press conference he calls me.

Pochettino has responded by mentioning the fact that Lionel Messi was Barcelona's standout player during the unforgettable Guardiola era at the Camp Nou - but he never highlighted that to suggest the Catalan giants were a one-man team.
