Listen To The 'Halloween' Theme Covered By Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross

Carpenter's revolutionary use of analog synthesizers when scoring Halloween became a hallmark of horror movies to follow as well as influencing a new crop of musicians like Mike Patton, Symmetry, Desire and Chromatics, Cliff Martinez, and SURVIVE have taken elements of Carpenter's signature sound. "My friends and I left the theater forever changed". His newest release of music is set for a October 20th release through Sacred Bones and will be titled Anthology: Movie Themes 1974-1998. And while we previously knew that Carpenter would be serving as executive producer for the new film, it also looks as if he'll be doing its music as well. We were damaged and scarred...and that theme stuck firmly in our heads. All of my favorite movies are playing on television, I can get my favorite candy in bulk and the dead return to torment the living. As promised, Trent Reznor has unleashed his cover of John Carpenter's classic Halloween theme - a redo you can now stream in full. Listen to the Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross Halloween theme below. The music to me acts as nearly another character in the film.

The new version of the Halloween score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross stays pretty true to the original, while adding a new depth and creepiness to it that is distinctly the handy work of Reznor and Ross. One of the things that makes the original Halloween such an effective film is the score.

By the way, Carpenter is a fan this new update: "Moody and dark, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross" version of "Halloween' does incredible justice to the original", Carpenter said. "I'm impressed". As we get closer to the great celebration that is Halloween, put this theme on repeat and enjoy.
