Multiple people injured in shooting at Swedish market

At least four people have been transported to nearby hospitals but the nature of their injuries remains unclear, according to a Swedish police report.

The town is known for past gang violence and that the incident is not being investigated as terrorism, according to AP.

"We get calls from several people who have heard shots", police spokesman Fredrik Bratt told the Daily Star.

Trelleborg is a Swedish port town located 20 miles south of Malmo and 40 miles southeast of Copenhagen, Denmark.

Police say the violence is not being treated as a terrorist attack and officers are continuing to hunt for the gunman. "There are several people who have experienced confirmed gunshot wounds", a statement issued by Police Skåne read.

Another said: "I was at home at my computer when I heard a loud bang".

Security officials have blocked some areas and are conducting "an investigation".

Another neighbour told the newspaper: 'There were many shots. Right now, it's locked off. We saw someone running outside.

"Forensics and search dogs are ordered to the site".
