NAB references: Nawaz, Maryam, Safdar to be indicted today

However, the court was expected to indict Maryam and Safdar as their case had been severed from that of her father and brothers - Hassan and Hussain. The court had made a decision to separate cases of Hassan and Hussain.

Maryam Nawaz and her spouse Capt Safdar have arrived at the court amid tight security and extensive protocol for the hearing of three graft references.

The court declared Hussain and Hassan absconders after their perpetual absence from proceedings.

"Since the NAB has not yet received a reply from the United Kingdom authorities, it has chose to pursue the matter in person", a source said, adding that the team would make sure its return before October 13 to submit a report to the accountability court in Islamabad in connection with the indictment of ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam and sons Hassan and Hussain. According to a court official, Safdar petitioned the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to pre-empt the indictment but the court rejected his plea.

The accountability court on Friday adjourned hearing of the three corruption reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau against members of Sharif family without proceedings until October 19.

Kulsoom, who is suffering from throat cancer, has undergone three surgeries in the United Kingdom so far.

The hearing was adjourned until October 13, when members of the Sharif family will be indicted.

The petitioner argued that the framing of charges against them on Oct 13 is illegal and unconstitutional since they have not been given the minimum seven days to peruse the reference and relevant material.

As a result of the ruckus, Judge Bashir made a decision to end court proceedings for the day and asked both defendants to leave the courtroom and return for the hearing on October 19.

Later, an advocate, Naeem Gujar, filed an application to the judge for an inquiry into the incident.

Sharif and his sons have been nominated in all three references, while Maryam and her husband have been named only in a reference related to the family's London flats.

The references against the Sharif family pertain to the Azizia Steel Mills and Hill Metals Establishment, their London properties and over dozen offshore companies owned by the family.
